They wont pay out to replace ruined food

The West Coast had a fire on the hottest day ever on 28 Feb (43degrees). https://www.accuweather.com/en/za/langebaan/301249/february-weather/301249. Due to the fire, it apparently burnt out transformers and we were without power for 28 HOURS. My freezer is in the garage, and all my food were defrosted and I had a messy sludge at the bottom of the freezer. Not even to mention the cheese, milk, ham, butter etc I had in my fridge. it reeked to high heaven. I called my insurance to tell them this and requested to pay out R2000 to replace my thawed meat etc. They phoned yesterday and said that because it wasn't due to loadshedding, they will not pay out. So I asked, that only if my food thawed during two hours of loadshedding, they will replace it, but not after 28 hours? Yes. I was very surprised because of this, because whose food defrosts to sludge after 2 hours of loadshedding???? The claim was denied. Please check your policies and if you are paying extra for this type of claim, cancel it immediately. They will find any loophole not to pay out. R2000!! and a R400 excess? that is the least amount. i didn't ask for R10k! I'm leaving KP asap.
