Reviewer Update
I WISH TO REPLACE THE UNDESERVINGLY 5 STARS WITH -5 (MINUS 5) STARS !!! People PLEASE be aware ---- King Price Insurance is NOT to be trusted !!! They go back on their word and with all kinds of mambo-jumbo excuses, try to justify their INCOMPETENCE !!! On 08 April 2020, after enquiring about the COVID-19 RELIEF, I was told that my premium will be reduced from R1,430.00 p.m. to R687.15 FULLY COMPREHENSIVE (INCLUDING ACCIDENTAL COVER). I received the WRITTEN confirmation and UPDATED SCHEDULE of this as well. Needless to say, I was OVER THE MOON - so happy with the approximately 52% saving. I immediately promoted that on numerous social media platforms (Hello.Peter, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc). I am CONVINCED that MANY people out there read these posts of mine and ALSO rushed off to make sure that, they TOO can make use of this “HUGE” saving as we are ALL struggling with the impact the lockdown has on us. But – today (14 April 2020), A WEEK LATER, I received a call informing me that “they have made a mistake”. Should I stay with the premium as at 08 April 2020, my car “WILL NOT BE COVERED FOR ACTS OF GOD OR NATURE”. In other words I will NOT have any HAIL, FLOOD, RIOT, etc. COVER. I was told to EITHER reinstate the policy as it was before 08 April 2020 OR if I wish to keep the premiums as at 08 April 2020, I can opt for an excess (normally R2,500.00). I DON’T have an excess and am paying for that option, WHY would I then settle for an excess in order to save a mere R215.35 per month ??? The lowest rate now stands at R902.50, taking into account that I had to remove our work laptops at a monthly premium of R184.84 from the policy in order to gain some kind of reduction. I do understand that, this still is a reduction of 36.88% BUT it is NOT acceptable for King Price Insurance to be able to go back on their word as they please, and we as the PAYERS must just abide ! If I am untruthful about a single and NON-IMPORTANT aspect on my policy, in an event of a claim, they have the RIGHT to decline my claim. But they can chop and change as they please ??? I am EXTREMELY unhappy about them going back on their word. I do regard their conduct as UNPROFESSIONAL !!! Placing King in the position of a retail shop, for instance like Pick ‘n Pay. Let’s say, I see an advert on their door that states : Come in - Buy ALL ITEMS included at this store for only R1,000.00 per trolley –. Normally R1,500.00 per trolley. Early morning I go and buy 3 FULL trollies at a cost of R3,000.00. I load my trollies, pay for it at the till, go home and start enjoying my huge saving. Within days we ate all the lovely red apples. Fried the thick beef steaks. I end up baking a couple of whole-wheat bread rolls with the flower, have 100 cups of Nescafé Coffee, etc. Then a week later, Pick ‘n Pay calls me to say “sorry, we have made a mistake. They stuff you bought a week ago, should have been charged at R1,500.00 per trolley and not R1,000.00, you now owe us R1,500.00. My question, how many people out there will accept this and go back to Pick ‘n Pay and pay the “shortfall” caused by FALSE ADVERTISING ??? Think TWICE before getting yourself in such a mess too …
