SHOCKING SERVICE BY KING PRICE INSURANCE

Hi Peter.

I took a building insurance for my newly built house in Radiokop, Roodepoort region from King price as I already had car insurance from them. I took this policy on 1st March 2017. I was promised on phone that they will mail me the policy document and also post me a hard copy at the physical address provided. On 2nd march, I travelled overseas and had informed insurer that I will be abroad. I came back to RSA on 7th April. The following day I noticed serious cracks on the 1st floor of my house and these cracks looked very serious and were almost 4mm wide apart especially in my bedroom. I swowed these cracks to a family friend and he said there was earthquake and tremors were felt in the roodepoort region around 1st week of April. He said these could have been caused by these tremors.

I then contacted KP and obtained a claim number KP ********** /1 dated 15th April 2017. The following week an assessor was sent to see the house. The assessor was a builder by profession. On 24th April I was informed telephonically that the claim was rejected. The reason being that they do not cover such issues as the cracks were due to poor workmanship and not due to the tremors or earthquake activity. I said this is not acceptable as these cracks were not there prior to my departure and only appeared during my absence. I said they need to send an expert ie a structural engineer or a crack specialist or a geologist who are trained and can give a detailed and independent report to determine the cause. Their report by their builder said in his "OPINION" it is due to poor workmanship. The builder is not a qualified person to determine the cause and moreover they need to specify what do they mean by poor workmanship. They kept on saying that they will not cover the claim as I was informed and the policy document was mailed to me around 30th Dec 2016. I said I did not even take the policy in Dec 2016 but joined only in March 1st this year. They said it is not their problem. I then asked them to retrieve the recordings on 1st march with their sales agent when i took this policy. They said it may take upto 10 working days before they can be retrieved and are strictly confidential and only their IT dept can access them. This is totally rediculous and a very poor service and broad day light *******.

Yesterday I again followed up on the case to speak to a senior claim consultant but not available and the lady said your claim will not be approved as it has been rejected. I them immediately asked them to cancel all my policies with them wie.

My advise to all the clients out there is please do not ever take any policy from KP as they are *******, non professionals.Their aim is only to take your money and they dont have your interest.

Hi Rajbhatt,
Thank you for your comments and allowing us the opportunity to respond. We herewith confirm that Carmen Stellenberg from our claims department tried to contact you without any success.
We do apologise if you feel that you received shocking service from King Price but would like to respond with the following on your queries / concerns:
The policy you took with King Price incepted on 1 January 2016 and not on 1 March 2017 as mentioned by you in your comments. Building cover was added to your policy with inception date 2 March 2017.
We furthermore want to confirm that your King Price Policy Document was sent to your email address on 28 December 2016.
This document explains in detail what you are covered for and what not, relating to all the different risks / items that can be placed on cover, this includes building insurance.
When the claim was submitted with King Price on 15 April 2017, one of our service providers was appointed the same day to visit your premises, to confirm damages and to supply us with an official report as to what their findings were. We have to mention that this service provider is highly capable and qualified in supplying us with the relevant advice and damage reports. The report received from them confirmed that the damages to your building structure was not due to any natural disasters (earthquakes) but due to poor workmanship. We also had one of our internal building experts have a look at all the relevant photos and report who confirmed the same. We therefore cannot fault our decision to reject your claim due to that but decided to also appoint an engineer to investigate. We will therefore wait for the engineer’s report before any further decisions will be made regarding your claim.
Regarding the recordings you mentioned, we herewith confirm it can take anything up to 10 days to retrieve them, we did listen to them and our IT department is in the process of placing all relevant calls on a disc which will be couriered to you as soon as possible.
If you have any further queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
Royal regards,

Hello Peter,
KP insurance is telling lies here regarding joining of the policy on building. NEVER took policy in Jan 2017 as this is a blatant lie and deception. I only officially took policy from 1st March 2017.
Secondly, the structural engineer was only appointed and sent after I had lodged complaint to hellopeter website. Prior to that they kept denying appointing the specialist and told me that the fees and all related costs involved with appointing structural engineer wiil be on my account. Surprisingly, the building insurance policy document was only mailed to me after I had officially cancelled my policy with them and after complaining with hellopeter.
The so called disc they are talking about mailing me will never happen as they had also promised to mail me a copy of their policy document upon joining them. OR even if I do receive it post official complaint, I can assure that it will be fabricated and edited and will not be a true recording.
However, I have already cancelled my policy with them and hence it is meaningless to be wasting my time with them.
They (KP) only wakes up when a client complaints with hellopeter or elsewhere.
Kind regards
Raj Bhatt
