Second Time I'm Being Treated Unfairly — King Price Avoids Paying Claims with Delay Tactics
If I could give negative stars I would.
This is now the second time I’ve had to fight King Price just to get a fair claim paid out.
I recently submitted a claim for vehicle damage from an incident on 31 May 2025, when I reversed out of a dark parking bay and hit a pillar. The damage affected an area that had already sustained minor damage from a previous incident — one I had submitted a claim for, then voluntarily withdrawn with the intention to repair it privately.
Unfortunately, the same area was hit again in the new incident, which made the damage worse. I submitted a single claim to reflect what happened — because this was clearly one continuous event, not two separate accidents. I provided photos, quotes, timelines, and a clear explanation.
But King Price now refuses to pay in full unless I prove that I repaired the earlier damage — even though:
I never received a payout for that earlier claim. There's no clause in the policy stating I’m required to repair a withdrawn claim before future cover applies. They want to split one incident into two just to avoid paying. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to deal with this kind of behavior.
Previously, I went through a long and frustrating back-and-forth over a scratch and dent claim. King Price initially tried to avoid paying the full amount, using technicalities and vague excuses. Only after I pushed back for weeks, they finally admitted fault on their side — acknowledging that the initial sales process was mishandled, and then paid out in full.
There’s a clear pattern here:
Delay the claim. Overcomplicate the process. Hope the client gives up. As a loyal, paying customer, I’ve done my part. I've acted in good faith, been transparent, and followed every process they’ve asked of me. Yet I’m met with ambiguity, shifting goalposts, and unfair treatment.
Unless this is resolved promptly and fairly, I’ll be escalating to the Ombudsman for Short-Term Insurance.
To anyone considering King Price: their friendly ads and affordable premiums hide a company that makes claiming far more difficult than it should be.
