Second-hand parts standard practice for King Price (& insurers) to fix car involved in an accident??????

I have a claim with King Price as I was involved in an accident last Friday (17/11/2017), ref CKP ********** /1 - Policy number: KP ********** .

I’ve just spoken to a Neville from King Price (tel: ********** ) at around 15h20 as I returned his call following two missed calls on my mobile phone.

Neville has just advised me that indeed my car can be fixed, estimate costing is around R80k /R85k… what’s baffled me with this statement is that King Price will consider SECOND-HAND PARTS to fix my car…’modern, royal offering’… considering second-hand parts??? I asked him if this was disclosed in my insurance and he was very brave to say indeed, “it’s standard practice within all insurers to do this”….

I see in my policy that I’ve just gone through, King Price keeps recording for a period of seven days?... “For your protection, all our calls are recorded and these recordings are available within 7days, should you ever need them.” I would like King Price to please ensure they will keep this recording for me for long, until I’ve at least satisfied myself that indeed I’ve not been ********** with SECOND HAND PARTS!!! I may have to take this issue to the ombudsman for review, as I’m extremely nervous and uncomfortable now with King Price!!!

I’m expecting someone senior to call me back to explain this issue of second-hands parts practice that standard across insurers so I can rest at ease???

My third requirement is that I also satisfy myself on the final costing and that indeed a BMW reputable panel beater/service provider is appointed to handle my car. This process has to be transparent and if need be – I should have an independent assessor as well as an approved BMW service provider to review King Price’s assessment review, costing thereof and proposed solution at the cost to be settled by King Price.

I look forward to hearing from King Price.
