Re: Cellphone claim
Very disapointed. I was being charged Premiums for my S7 that was worth R12500 at the time of the insurance. It got damaged and could not be repaired. I was instructed that I would get a replacement and then found out that they had no stock of that phone. As I am on holiday and had to borrow a phone that must now be returned, I asked what other options were available. I was told that I would need to go for a lesser model phone because I was only approved for +/-R8k. I would have no problem with this if only reduced the monthly premium I was being charged for. They took about R2000 that I did not need to pay. I called to discuss this and the buck passing has already begun. I can get this sort of **** with any other insurance company, why pay King Price.
Dear David.
You have been contacted by Carmen to discuss the situation in terms of the claim. The purpose of insurance is to place you in the same position you were prior to the loss. Your phone is further insured for the replacement value and thus the amount which was settled is correct as the replacement value of your phone was the R8660.00.
Your policy conditions, clearly sets out your responsibilities as follows:
"You need to insure your portable possessions for their total replacement value. This means the cost of replacing your lost or damaged items with new items. Should you insure any items for an amount less than their replacement value, we’ll then pay you proportionately."
You have confirmed that you have collected your replacement phone.
