Rather keep bad insurance than deal with dismal service like this

Earlier this year, I was hit from the rear end and tried to process a claim through King Price. Their claims department had a half day so I couldn't process anything, but managed to get my car towed...30km's away from Sandton somewhere, South (?), being from Pretoria, that's a bit of a drive already. Nonetheless, I began the claim process as soon as I could and was told I will get an update on the assessment within 5 days. It took almost 12. The consultant handling my call was never available and I had to deal with so many other consultants that I received so many different variations of feedback as if I had a completely different kind of accident. What really frustrated me was one consultant advising me that they "might" get my excess back. I'm no expert, but if the other party is comprehensively insured and managed to give me their claim number on the scene when it was their fault, its simply a case of procedure and a few months of waiting. Whilst now being absolutely frustrated, I finally got my assessment back, only to find out that the cost of the repairing the vehicle was more than 50% the value of my vehicle, without the option to write it off...for a slight rear end knock and some front damage!?

Naturally, I decided to cancel the claim and went through the supposedly difficult task of claiming as a third party through their insurance myself (I did so successfully with the amazing assistance from OUTsurance and was back on the road very soon after resolving everything) and also decided to change to another insurance company after wasting 3 years of my premiums. Time was never a factor here, but if this was dealt with much better than this and King Price was better suited to handle simple claims like this, I definitely wouldn't have had a problem.

There are indeed some pretty bad insurance companies out there who you are all most likely dealing with, but fortunately none are bad enough to leave and join King Price insurance.
