Poor customer service
Following a rear-end collision in mid-August 2025 where the at-fault driver had no insurance, I encountered a steep excess payment, half of which I paid upfront to expedite parts procurement. My vehicle, initially promised a 7-day repair, took 29 days to fix ontop of an additional one-month delay in booking the repair. The delay of the 29 days stemmed from King Price downgrading the assessment from a replacement to a repair, postponing panel beating until the replacment could be approved and the parts eventually procured. On 7 October the repairs could start after being booked in on 16 September. Consequently, I had to repeatedly extend the rental car-limited to short intervals by King Price’s restrictions. During this period, my premium increased by over R100 per month, attributed mainly to an annual adjustment "apparently". The situation escalated when the car battery died, requiring a replacement to retrieve my vehicle, only for a subsequent battery center visit to reveal a loose installation (a day after receiving my vehicle back). The car was also returned with dirty marks, necessitating a valet service for proper cleaning. I was assured the insurance would cover an auto electrician to reset the computer due to the battery issue, but follow-ups revealed neither King Price nor Automagic would cover this cost. The ordeal has been financially taxing, with numerous unexpected expenses to restore my car.
