Policy Cancellation

Today I attempted to cancel my insurance with King Price, and the experience left me extremely dissatisfied.

When I called, I spoke to a lady (I unfortunately don’t recall her exact name, it started with a C). I explained that I wanted to cancel my policy as I am selling my car. Instead of assisting me, she insisted that I was not being honest and claimed she knew another insurance company had just contacted me. She then put me on hold for about 10 minutes, and when she returned, she went as far as to warn me that my “dishonesty” would be noted on their system and made available to other insurance companies.

This felt like a direct threat and completely unacceptable. I reminded her that my reason for cancelling is private, and that sharing such information would be against the POPIA regulations. Instead of showing professionalism, she continued to treat me disrespectfully and even scolded me like a child.

Eventually, after going back and forth, she processed the cancellation, but again accused me of lying when I asked for my cover to end on the last day of the month (which I had already paid for).

I am shocked at the lack of respect, the threatening tone, and the invasive questioning. As a paying customer, I should have the right to cancel my policy without being interrogated or humiliated.

This was a highly unpleasant experience, and I will never recommend King Price Insurance to anyone. In fact, I will actively advise others to avoid them based on the way I was treated today.
