Pathetic Claim Service
Last year I lost/misplaced my cellphone which is insured with King Price, I called King price to log a claim which they requested supporting documents and gave me a claim number, but I couldn't send supporting docs as I still had to do an affidavit and blacklist the phone from the service provider so that the ITC number can be also on the affidavit. I called Vodacom to request them to blacklist the phone but the lady that I spoke to, requested that I take few days to confirm/verify if the phone is really lost before blacklisting it.
Few days later I got the phone and didn't go through the claim process anymore and the claim was closed.
On the 6th of March I dropped my phone in the taxi on my way home and when I tried calling it when I get home, it was off. Went to police station on the 8th of March to do an affidavit and blacklisted to get the ITC number. Then sent an email to do a new claim which I forwarded all the required documents for the claim but 7 days later (today) the claim hasn't been approved and the claims administrator is telling me that he will put my claim on hold because I can't provide an affidavit for the claim that was closed last year due to me recovering my cellphone.
I was also told that they will only pay me market value price for my cellphone which is R10000 whereas I insured my cellphone for retail value which R14899.
Never taking any insurance with King Price, second time having issues with claiming!!!
Even though you insured the item for that amount it doesn't mean the item is worth that amount. A phone is an item that depreciates often as there are always newer models coming out. Paying you more than what it is worth currently would be classed as enrichment and that is not the purpose of insurance. Should you wish to dispute the outcome of your claim you may do so by emailing a detailed dispute to ***
