Outrageous excess fee

Last year in December I was involved in an accident where my car sustained minor damages. I contacted Kingprice shortly after the incident to make a claim and they told me that I'd need to take my car in for assessment at a panel beaters recommended by them which inflated the price of fixing the car to a jaw breaking R22000 so as to justify me taking out an unreasonable excess fee of R12000. I took my car to another panel beaters which is RMI approved and they told me that it would only take R9000 to fix but when I tell Kingprice about this they said no I still have to take out R12000 so I decided to cancel the insurance and I'm still waiting for an email from them confirming the cancellation. I'm going to be engaging with the National Consumer Union to find out what my rights are in such a case as I haven't claimed and have been paying for 2 years

Hello Tonic1234,

Although we never really enjoy hearing that our clients feel they have been frustrated or disappointed by us, we do appreciate you bringing situations like this to our attention, so that we can immediately improve the service we provide.

Please note that we have many excess options available, R12000 is the excess option you selected at point of sale. We are unable to comment on the quote you received from the RMI dealer as they might want to repair certain parts that we might have wanted to replace for example hence the price difference in the quote. Kindly provide us with the RMI quote so that we may compare it to ours and provide you with feedback as to the facts involved.

We always have our clients best interest at heart and hope to hear from you soon to discuss this further.

Royal regards
