Not such a "royal" customer after all
I have been a "royal" customer since 2016. Being insured with King Price was good, I could not boast enough about them. Family members even ended up joining them.
Missed a premium on 3 October (financial restraints, short time etc etc) received an email to say I am covered for the next 15 days, but obviously - need to catch up as soon as I can. No problem. Item from home blew on 14 October due to a power surge the entire suburb had. Reported the issue via email on 19 October. 15 November I am still following up, going in circles. Get told on 15 November the claim has been rejected due to the premium that was missed. (Frustrating after I said to them I will make the payment if it will get the claim approved, but if they were going to diddle daddle around then I was going to diddle diddle with my payment - all I wanted was a confirmed answer. Make payment and we will pay out the claim) Keep in mind the premiums owed were half the value of the claim. I might as well cancel my policy and save for another 2 months and have the item repaired myself. No stress of begging and pleading for an answer. 16 November I found an email that i was covered till 19 October. So by the time I emailed for the claim, I was actually still fully covered. But they won't approve the claim, due to reasons only they would understand. They treat customers like this after 5 years. Very disappointing, frustrating, and a massive waste of my time & money.
Following a fair and comprehensive assessment, we're notifying you that this claim has been rejected.
The reason/s is/are (but may not be limited to): The premium for the month of the incident was not paid.
King Price Policy Document reference:
Monthly premium
Your monthly premium is the amount that you need to pay in advance every month, by debit order, to enjoy the insurance cover you chose. How and when to pay Your monthly premium must be paid on the agreed payment date, and in the manner agreed upon And if you don't pay Let's say your debit order is returned by your bank, and your insurance premium due to us isn't paid as a result of that... You'll have a grace period of 15 days from the date of payment that has been agreed between you and us (as noted on your policy schedule), to correct the situation and pay us.
If your premium is paid on a monthly basis, the 15 day grace period will commence from the second month that you're insured with us. If the premium remains unpaid, you'll unfortunately not be covered for the full period that would have been covered by this unpaid premium. This break in cover may also result in your policy being re-rated.
If you want to claim for an incident that happens during this 15 day grace period, the approval of such a claim will only be considered once we have received your premium payment in full, and no later than the 15th day of the grace period.
If you disagree with the outcome of this claim, you may challenge our decision in writing, within 90 days of the date of the email claims sent you, and we offer you full and free access to our internal Ombud to do so. Simply email all the info to: ***
