Money is King

I was in the process of purchasing a vehicle and was approved on the 2nd October 2020. I was to take delivery on the 6th/7th with the dealership and decided to sign up with King Price on their Chilli product offering.

The monthly instalment would differ from month to month depending on the total KM the vehicle would travel, however, I estimated a total of 750 KM and would be paying around R756.11/month according to the policy. A deduction was made via debit order against my account on the 6th October 2020 for an amount of R634.48.

I was contacted by the dealership on the 7th October 2020 and advised that the vehicle would need to have its engine mountings replaced due to wear and would need to wait 7-10 days for the parts to be received and then replaced. I agreed to this as the deal was conducted via an official dealership I.E. the actual brand and left it in their capable hands.

I was then contacted by the dealership on the 13th October 2020 advising that they would unfortunately need to cancel the deal as the vehicle had mechanical issues which would not be feasible to have it resolved. - So from engine mountings to gearbox issues which was obviously a huge issue. I attempted to find an alternative similar vehicle that is make, model and approximately same KM but was ultimately unsuccessful and decided to rather cancel the insurance as I have not received the original asset which was insured. - In short there was nothing to insure.

On the 15th October 2020 I contacted King Price to advise on what happened and that I was unable to find a suitable replacement and would rather opt to have the insurance canceled with the intent to resign once another opportunity arises. The agent was unable to assist me on at the time and logged a ticket for someone to contact me. On the 16th October 2020 I contacted King Price again and was told that the ticket was still open and that someone will get back to me. I left it for the weekend and again on the 19th October 2020 decided to contact them since no one got back to me since. The agent managed to assist me with the cancelation, however, I was advised that they would not be refunding me the total amount and only an amount of R291.90. I requested the full amount to be refunded since there was no risk for King Price due to the asset not being in my possession.

On the 20th October 2020 I was refunded the amount of R291.90.

So in short congratulations to King Price on making a quick R342.58. I find this practice to be ********* and immoral to say the least, not to mention the foregoing long term relationship which is worth allot more than making a quick buck.
