Locksmiths. Definition of King Price to qualify for the service of a Locksmith. At about 02H40 I tried to unlock my Bedroom door. The Y8 Key broke off in the locking mechanism subsequently leaving me stranded behind a locked door. My son, tried to unlock my door from the outside, however was unable to do so! In good faith, I called King Price who renders Emergency Locksmith Services after hours! I was informed Telephonically by Arthur from King Price that if any Policyholder/s are locked inside the house the cost of a Locksmith is, according to their terms and conditions not covered for any assistance under the Policy. I was transferred to a Locksmith Service Provider in Central Avenue in Kempton Park by KP. I was informed by the Locksmith that a cash or EFT payment of R1,200 is needed COD before rendering any service. I declined the offer as the cost of a brand new door will be more-or-less R380 + R120 for a brand new replacement door. This "exclusion" by KingPrice amplifies a NOT user friendly Insurance Co handing out free umbrellas when the sky is blue and the sum is shining, little do the insured client knows he is stuck in the room if the key breaks from the inside and he cannot het out! KING PRICE: Please consider a môre human approach towards humans, your T&C's are shortsighted, penny wise and pound foolish and is indicative of your a) Lack of understanding human dignity & basic ubuntu b) totally out of trend with a civilization valuing freedom of movement in a technologically advanced world. In my opinion, this stipulation and interpretation of needing an Emergency Locksmith is shortsighted and penny-wise and pound-foolish. For now, I am locked inside my room and can not get out, in addition, no other resident on this property can gain access to me or my room. In the unforeseen event of a Medical Emergency no one will have access to me, nor can I go out of my room given the fact that the key broke off in the locking mechanism. A locksmith during business hours will cost R650. With respect, this specific interpretation of when one needs a Locksmith is, in my humble opinion, extremely disconcerting and frankly incomprehensible. Why not charge every client R2,50 more per month to allow a Locksmith to render assistance where any individual is locked inside a room inside a house as well? To me it defies all natural sensible logic to limit the use of a Locksmith appointed by you only when you can not gain entry to your house from the outside. It seriously lacks vision! I shall appreciate a call from King Price to suggest a more humain and user friendly approach; simply helping an individual accidentally locked in a room in his house to get out.
