King Price turning into Outsurance

I recently had the misfortune of being side-swiped by a Midrand taxi bus while on my way to work, resulting in R30K's worth of damage to the left rear of my Hilux double cab. The damage was repaired, I changed my route to work, and life carried on. About a year later we bought a bigger house and I decided to trade in my Hilux for a smaller, cheaper vehicle that uses much less fuel, to save on expenses. I bought a two-door Chevrolet Utility base model and outfitted it with central locking and anti-theft, believing that my insurance premiums would reduce, since the Utility carries a much lower risk of being hijacked or ******. I telephoned King Price to get a quote for the new vehicle only to get the shock of my life: my insurance premium had DOUBLED overnight! King Price quoted me R1400 per month for comprehensive insurance on a 2016 Chevrolet Utility - no canopy, no aircon, no radio, nothing. Apparently I was now considered a high risk since I had claimed recently. Now I ask you, what f*ck is the point of having insurance if you're never going to claim? I mean, it's not like we can pretend to be living in a normal civilized country where there are no mini-bus taxis on the road, driven by foreign nationals with no driver's licence, can we? Oddly enough, Virseker (underwritten by Auto & General) seem to agree with me. They quoted me a little over R700 for the same insurance, despite my "tarnished claims history". Needless to say, I'll be moving my short-term insurance to Virseker. ALL OF IT.

King Price have since changed their story and quoted me less than Auto & General, with a lower excess for the same cover. It seems the original quote was done by a call centre agent who was not interested in keeping loyal customers. My premium was dramatically reduced by a more senior King Price consultant simply by correcting the details of the vehicle and adjusting the distance and frequency with which I would be driving the vehicle each month.
