King Price is a waste of money
King Price is a waste of money when it comes to car insurance. A scooter drove wrong side of the road into us and King Price refused to even try claim back my excess because they clearly didn’t bother reading the K53 book. Their managers shouldn’t even be managers at the hot dog stand. Avoid King Price, they are just as bad as the scooter drivers.

As per our telephonic conversation of even date.
We will proceed with our legal recovery claim against the third party based on your request.
When determining whether to proceed with a recovery claim, we need to refer to the law of delict.
In scenarios where a vehicle enters or crosses the main flow of traffic (e.g., turning from a side road or junction) while a motorcycle is overtaking or filtering through vehicles on the main road, courts apportion liability based on foreseeability, reasonable care, speed, visibility, and statutory duties. Drivers emerging must check for overtaking/filtering traffic (often harder to spot), while motorcyclists bear responsibility for excessive speed or failing to anticipate turns. Outcomes vary by facts like speed limits, sightlines, and signals, but emerging drivers often bear significant fault for inadequate observation, even against speeding motorcyclists.
Based on how the accident occurred, contributory negligence will be app****. As we were the driver entering the traffic, in most cases we will carry the bigger percentage of liability.
As discussed, we will however proceed until we receive an outcome from the third party insurers. Should we invite a third party claim against your policy from the third party insurers, our liability department will deal with same.
Please note that our legal recovery claim is a separate claim from your own damage claim and is not dependent on one another. Your own damage claim will proceed and be finalised irrespective of the processes and outcome of our legal claim.
Please note that this is a legal matter and legal principles apply. The claim will be dealt with in terms of the applicable law relating to the Law of Delict and Apportionment of Damages Act 34 of 1956. The claim will therefore be evaluated based on its own merits and consider all evidence being presented.
It is extremely important for us to manage your expectations during the process of the legal recovery claim.
- The legal recovery process can be a lengthy process. We legally have a period of 3 years to recover damages from a third party.
- The legal recovery process is not guaranteed, but we will however put forward our best efforts to settle the claim in our favour.
- We will only be in a position to refund your excess if we have been successful with our legal recovery claim.
The process will work as follows:
- We will send our letter of demand to the third party insurers.
- We will require the final repair invoice from the panelbeaters for your repairs. Thus when your vehicle is completed you will be required to collect your vehicle and pay the excess.
- Upon receipt of the invoice, we will send it to the third party insurers and we are then able to proceed with our recovery claim.
- The third party insurers will validate our claim. They have a turn around time of approximately 60 business days from after submitting our final invoices.
We will be in contact with you once we have received communication from the third party insurers.
