Is this the insurance standard to look for faults after the accident to their clients even when there was wrong on their part?

My wife was knocked from the left side of the car by an old lady who was trying to make a u turn from the parking n when I arrived at the scene after she called me I also inquired from the woman she kept on saying she was so sorry she didn't see the other n she even wrote n signed her statement in front of traffic official's that she was trying to make a u turn. Kingsprice they're asking my wife if she took some liquor when coming from the gym ' they want 6month bank statement' previous insurer ' 6 month tracker records etc and they have even appointed a private investigator to this matter n so the car has been in their position from the date of the accident for now 4 weeks they haven't done anything thus.... n mind u I've been with them for + minus 7yrs they're still owning me R4500.00 access money for the accident that took place in 2021 n I remember a traffic officer on the scene saying if there's a problem in fixing our car I should take a lawyer? should we take that route Peter since Kingsprice seems to be concerned in investigating the victim here?
