I hope this message finds you well. On February 26th, 2024, I was involved in a car accident where another vehicle attempted to overtake and collided with my car, causing me to bump into the vehicle next to me. Following the incident, I promptly submitted my insurance claim and paid the excess fee that was supposed to be covered by the individual who caused the initial collision. Unfortunately, this person is unreachable, so I had to cover the excess myself.
I had taken out a third-party insurance policy with the understanding that it would cover damages to third-party vehicles involved in accidents like this. However, the lady whose car I bumped into has been messaging me, claiming that your insurance representatives informed her that I am personally liable for the damages because it is considered my fault.
This is incredibly confusing and concerning for me. It doesn't make sense that I would opt for a policy that only covers damage to my own vehicle, especially knowing that accidents can happen involving others. Now, it appears that I may need to borrow money to compensate this lady, despite having third-party insurance coverage.
I urgently request your assistance and clarification on this matter. Could you please review my policy and the details of the accident to confirm what coverage applies in this situation? I appreciate your prompt attention and guidance on how to proceed.
Thank you for your assistance.
