Generic parts used for claim
About a week ago a stone fell on my windscreen cracking it so you know when something like that happens first thing you say is jarrrre watter badluck is die but then you remember that nice call centre agent from the insurance who told you we cover your windscreen aswell sir at a flat excess of "R750" (some insurance dont charge excess) but anyways so i phone the insurance (king Price) i tell them hi look here a stone just fell on my windscreen i want a new one cause this crack cant be stopped they tell me okay sir give us your details i give it to them they ask for what car cause all my cars are insured with them i tell them its for that Red S3 they say okay we work with a company called auto boys they will contact you to make arrangements to replace the glass so they call me we discuss everything finalize the claim i then tell that agent listen i dont want aftermarket windscreen on my car either its the original glass from audi or a glass from shatterproof cause we all know "if it doesn't say shatterproof its not shatterproof" the guy tells me about their inhouse glass etc i tell him thats the glasses i want guy tells me if thats the case the excess will increase now im thinking what happened to the flat excess i tell the guy he must hold that claim let me contact those nice agents at king price now you know the drill claim time you will wait till the nice lady from mtn tells you one minute remaining but anyway i get through to them this is where the story gets interesting i ask that lady why are the windscreen guys telling me about an additional excess when you guys say a flat excess shes like "look sir firstly your car is 6 years old and its out of warranty we usually assess the claim and replace the glass with a generic windscreen then i said generic meaning fong kong dont use big words shes like no an sabs approved windscreen so i throw a tantrum they put me through to a claims specialist she tells me the windscreen is the same like the oem windscreen its just the branding/badge is different but if i want a glass from the agents they can do it and i pay the difference in from what it will cost compared to the generic windscreen" so i told them if i replace that windscreen myself with a generic windscreen which i did replace before on one of my previous cars (same spec as rose) i paid R1250 fitted i can even get a quote for it they told me point blank thats how they work now if we look at it i pay R750 excess how much will they the insurance pay be woke about the insurance you take out cause if they say the car is 6 years old and out of warranty they can use generic parts the same principle will apply accident time they will want to replace or fix with pirate parts
