Extremely Disappointed with King Price’s Dishonest and Unfair Handling of My Claim

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received from King Price Insurance regarding a minor damage claim (Reference ***).

After lodging a claim for light scratches on my vehicle, King Price proceeded to assess the damage in the most unreasonable and, frankly, dishonest manner. A representative arranged a meeting for measurements, during which my partner brought in the vehicle. At this meeting, I specifically pointed out that one of the scratches (at the bottom of the vehicle) was present prior to the incident. The assessor acknowledged this and said he would merely photograph it, yet this very scratch has now conveniently become central to their rejection of my claim.

To make matters worse, the assessor went so far as to inspect underneath the car, something that had absolutely nothing to do with my claim. Their approach was clearly skewed from the start.

King Price then measured every visible scratch diagonally, a tactic clearly intended to exaggerate the length and falsely claim it exceeded their 15cm policy limit. This is not only misleading but utterly unprofessional. The scratch that was originally in question and used to justify their rejection did not exceed the 15cm threshold, as confirmed during their own assessment. In fact, their initial rejection re**** on a photo where a ruler was mistakenly placed 5cm into the scratch, creating a false impression of its length.

Additionally, I supp**** King Price with multiple repair quotes, including one for exactly R3 000, well within their policy’s coverage limit. Despite this, they falsely claimed all quotes exceeded the maximum claim value. I even forwarded the email with the quotes directly to them, yet this fact was conveniently ignored in their latest response to the Ombudsman.

The process has dragged on for an unreasonably long time with no proper resolution. I have had to follow up with the Ombudsman’s office due to King Price’s lack of urgency and transparency.

I am utterly disappointed by the way this matter has been handled and feel that my trust in King Price has been completely betrayed. Their conduct has been misleading, dismissive, and utterly lacking in accountability.

I caution anyone considering taking out insurance with King Price to think twice.
