King Price Insurance Complaint
I was insured with King Price, but my monthly premium suddenly increased by over R500. I requested that the policy be canceled at the end of the month. Before the insurance ended, my refrigerator began to malfunction, so I filed a claim.
Their initial excuse was that if the damage was due to a power surge, I would need to pay an excess. When I asked why, the person on the call advised me to wait until the problem was identified before discussing it further. Over the next few days, several people called me, repeatedly claiming it was a power surge. I asked how they could determine this without inspecting the refrigerator in person.
Eventually, a technician from "Repair on Call" assessed the refrigerator. He asked if it was still under warranty, to which my wife responded, "No." However, King Price later informed me that they would not honor the claim because the technician’s report stated there was no issue with the refrigerator. The report was contradictory: it mentioned the unit was in "fair condition" but also described "mechanical breakage."
Additionally, despite my wife clearly stating there was no warranty, the technician reported to King Price that both my wife and I had claimed it was under warranty.
Now, I am left without a refrigerator while King Price has kept all my premiums. It feels like King Price is not "King Price" for me, but rather "King Price" for themselves—they have my money, and I am left with nothing.
