Car Excess too high
As a first time car buyer I took a car insurance with King price which was recommended by the car dealership I bought a car from. I knew nothing about excess and I found out when I had to claim for a hail damage. They told me that I had to pay R31 000 for my car to be repaired because my excess is R27 000. They said they will send an assessor to come and assess the damage but they didn't send him. I told them that I don't have that amount and they said I will have to fix it myself. Insurance are ****mers. I had to cancel it because it's not rzliable.

We note that you lodged a complaint last year and the following formal response was sent to you:
''We acknowledge receipt of your complaint against King Price. We obtained all the relevant information from King Price and have considered the nature of your complaint. Your claim was withdrawn because the repair costs of your vehicle falls within your excess amount. We acknowledge that you withdrew your claim on 4 November 2025 following contact from the appointed assessor to arrange an inspection of the vehicle. At that time, you advised the claims
department that the withdrawal was due to your inability to pay the applicable excess of
R31,000.00. The excess payable in the amount of R31,000.00 consists of your basic excess of R27,500.00 as
well as an additional excess of R3,500.00 as the incident occurred within the first 3 months of
cover.''
We are truly sorry you are disappointed but unfortunately that is the excess option you took at point of sale.
