Bad service and excuses!!

I've had a break in and king price has asked me as a client to go and get a copy of the case report logged at the police station. The only thing you are meant to do as a client is provide the insurance company with a case number. Then the assessor came through a week later after my break in where I had already changed the locks and assessed my property. Currently my property is insured for R100k and he said my overall cover should be R200k should I lose everything. He then said that my claim might not be processed for R12k (total estimated value of what was ******) because I am under insured???? The insured value is up to the discretion of the client! And my claim comes up to less than my total insured cover. What is the point of having household insurance information this is the service and issues you get?? I'm not happy with kingprice!!

Hi Rushani

Our claims department will be in contact with you as soon as there is feedback on your claim. As discussed via Facebook we wish to refer you to the following excerpts from your policy document regarding under insurance which applies regardless if there is a total loss or partial loss this is the case with most if not all insurers:

Understanding under-insurance
You need to insure your contents for their total replacement value, meaning the
cost of replacing your lost or damaged items with new items. Should you insure
the contents for an amount less than its replacement value, we’ll then pay you
proportionately. So, if the correct total insured value of the home contents at the time of a claim is R400,000 and you insure it for R200,000 only, then you’ll only be compensated
for 50% of your loss.

Please note: You must make sure that your replacement value is realistic, so that
you’ll have enough cover when you need it.
Remember, it’s always better to be over-insured, than under-insured.

Regarding the police report we refer you to the following excerpt from your policy document regarding your responsibility during a claim :

Do the paperwork
You need to provide us with a copy of:
• The police report.
• The police case number.

As advised our claims department will be in contact with you during the processing of the claim. Should you require any further information regarding your claim kindly contact the claims department on ***.

Royal regards
