Bad customer service.
On Sundy 19th June 22, I submitted an accidental claim for a cellphone via their app which was immediately approve. Early on Monday morning (20th June) I received a phone call from their assessment centre to make arrangements to collect my phone. This was done of the same day and delivered to their assessment center in JHB on Tuesday 21st June. A week had gone past and no contact from King Price. On the morning of Tuesday 28th June, I called the claims department to follow up regarding my claim. The lady I spoke to said that they had received the report for the item to be replaced however no consultant was allocated to my claim. She said that she would escalate and someone would call me with feedback. By Thursday afternoon (30th June), no one had called me. I called the claims dept after 4pm and the lady I spoke to said she was experiencing system issues (can't log in) and would call me back on Friday (1st July). She even told me that she was sending herself an email to remind her so she wouldn't forget. She didn't return my call on Friday. On Monday 4thJuly, I called the claims dept again and spoke to a lady by the name of Tracey who was very helpful. She finalised my claim with me on the phone and said that they would pay me out for the device and I had to verbally accept over the phone that I was happy with the outcome which I did. She also sent me the letter to complete however she advised that due to their calls being recorded there was no need for me to send the signed form back. Payment will take 3 - 5 days. She also advised that someone would call me the following day to remove the item from my insurance. A week later and I have still not received any payment from King Price. Early on Tuesday 4th July another lady called to remove the item from my insurance. After removing it my premium was now more that what is prior to my claim being approved. After receiving the revised quotations, I checked to see what specified items insurance prmium when up. I was shocked when doing the comparison to see how much they are now charging me for certain items after my claim. Of course the difference in price was deducted the very next day from my bank account. Item 1 - R324,87 - New premium R538,86 (Increase of R213,99) Iterm 2 - R324,87 - New premium R538,86 (Increase of R213,99) Item 3 - R18,81- New premium R25,78 (Increase of R6,97) Item 4 - R41,19 - New premium R84,23 (Increase of R43,04)
From R704,74 to R1187,73. An increase of R477,99 per month which is ridiculous.
We pay so much money to these insurance companies every month and rarely claim then we are penalised if we claim. Some things are beyond our control in life therefore we have to claim but why must be be penalised like this?
I'm not feeling like a very royal customer right now. Will have to start exploring other insurance company options.
I fail to understand, why I needed to follow up with them all the time. This is not the first time that I have found myself in this situation with them.
Hi Celeste
Hope you well.
Thank you for the call earlier today.
We would like the claims card. In the event that we purchase a laptop that costs less than the R16500. What happens then? Can the balance we used to purchase other items at the store?
Hope to hear from you soon
Thank you and kind regards
Cherlyn
Up until today, I am still waiting for feedback to this email. I emailed her on Friday 15th July at 09h03 and again at 10h55 and STILL NO RESPONSE. She was however quick to respond to my other emails when I was cross questioning her about the claims card vs being paid out the cash amount. She screenshot the claims section of the policy doc because apparently their rules have changed. No where does it state anything about a voucher or claims card. She says my claim falls under the supplier of their choice. Their T & C's should be clearer because is only states we will pay CASH, REPAIR OR REPLACE. They are being audited because the claim is for an amount of R17000. No feedback to my questions and no confirmation from her side neither that she has processed the claims card and that it will be couried to me with an indication as to when I can expect the card. My son starts school on Tuesday and has no laptop to use at school. This is just another reason for me to start looking for insurance at a competitor of theirs. They were not able to relook at my premium increase I raised with them neither. I was told that i can't be decreased. Not feeling like a ROYAL customer at ALL. The service received from their claims department is not great at all. Tracey and Carmen was helpful in the beginning but then they also just faded away....
