Avoid KP Insurance: Great Sales Pitch, Nightmare Claims Process
I'm writing this because if you’re even thinking about KP Insurance—especially if you're tempted by their so-called premium incentives—you need to hear this. Yeah, KP will treat you like royalty... but only in certain areas. Let me tell you where they roll out the red carpet:
Sales: They’re all sweet and friendly when they’re selling you stuff.
Renewals: They keep up the “we care about you” vibe at renewal time, just as your premium jumps up.
General Admin: Need to update a policy detail? Sure, they’re happy to help. They even have a callback option if you're out of airtime—how nice, right?
FNOL (First Notification of Loss): When you first report an accident, they’re there for you, like you’re their top priority.
These are the easy, low-cost parts of insurance that most insurers handle without issue. But KP? They’re on their game here, no doubt.
Now, here’s where they fall apart—and I mean, really fall apart. When it’s time to actually assess and pay out your claim, prepare to be treated like a ********. They’re going to grill you like you’re under investigation, and it’s honestly ridiculous. Here’s what they’ll put you through:
They’ll make you sign a consent form that basically gives them free rein over your personal data. And they want everything—ID, past insurance records, municipal bills, expenses, tracking data, toll footage, purchase proofs, bank statements, traffic fines, credit checks, witness statements—you name it, they want it. And, oh yeah, you’re the one who has to track down all these documents.
And even after you hand over this mountain of information, they still might reject your claim.
This whole experience isn’t just annoying—it’s downright insulting. They claim to be all about “service,” but when it matters—like when you need them to actually pay a claim—they make your life hell. A cheaper premium is not worth the invasion of privacy, hassle, and frustration. This was my nightmare for a R50,000 claim (with a R10,000 excess on top of it!). I wouldn’t recommend KP to anyone. They only shine in the areas that don’t matter when it comes to actual insurance experience.
