Are certain company policies still applicable in todays economic world ?
I took my current insurance policy (I am currently insured with another company) and created a document containing all the relevant information of what I have currently insured, and sent it via email to four different insurance companies asking for a quote so I could get a feel of the 'current market'.
I specifically requested to get a reply via email as I am mostly unavailable to talk over the phone during work hours.
I got three emails back with the amount as requested.
King Price however decided to phone me. They NEED (as it is company policy) to record the conversation for a quote. So I asked for an estimate - Nope, can't be done via email - it needs to be a recorded telephone conversation.
In other words, all the time I spent to create the document is wasted. I am going to sit on a phone call and have to answer all questions which are already answered in the document. Just to find out if it is worth my while to switch.
You might have a good rating as an insurer, but you just lost a potential client and worse, now I'm making your competition rich.
It might be time to re-look some policies ...

Unfortunately as with most insurers our quotes are done on a recorded line. The questions asked provide us with the relevant information in order to provide an accurate quote and to do a needs analysis to make sure you have the correct cover and can make an informed decision.
