King Price Insurance DGC Glass

<div>As a customer with Kingprice for 3 years, I can’t believe how their service has become so appalling. I had a windscreen glass replacement claim that was assigned to DGC Glass for fulfilment. The moment I put out the claim they were quick to ask for the excess of R750 which I paid immediately. It took them several days to eventually schedule the date for the fitment after several follow up calls from me. Eventually the guys came through very late only for them to realise that they had the wrong windscreen and would have to come back another day. No feedback from DGC Glass or Kingprice on the date of the new fitment or rescheduling. Again, after several follow ups they eventually schedule to fit the correct glass after 2 weeks of waiting. They came and fit a generic glass which had an ineffective sensor which also a very visibly poorly cut around the edges. When it rains the wipers don’t function because the sensor is ineffective. I immediately raised this with DGC GLass and they said there was nothing they could do as KingPrice approved that they use the ineffective generic glass, as such I must raise the issue with Kingprice. I called in to Kingprice and each time the claims department refers me back to DGC Glass. After several dilly dallying, I got on a call with a representative from broker finance and the claims department and they claimed that they had used a generic glass without my a-foreknowledge because my car was out of warranty. Meanwhile this process or rule is inconsistent because they had replaced the same glass a year before this new claim and they did so with an original glass whilst my vehicle was out of warranty as well. When they saw that the argument was not right and inconsistent, they eventually plead to send someone from DGC Glass to inspect the Glass. The inspector came and also tested the sensor which he admitted to being ineffective as well as the poorly cut generic glass which was faulty. They were supposed to give the feedback to Kingprice and Kingprice were meant to revert. Another two weeks later, neither King Price nor DGC Glass got back to me regarding the issue. I made several calls to the policy and claims department and am still waiting. I pay R1680 premium with an excess of 7500. All I can tell is that Kingprice and DGC Glass have very horrible customer service and they treat customers in the most awful manner ever.</div>

Alternative glass is not inferior to branded glass.  All glass manufactured for the use as windscreens must be SABS approved and both branded and alternative glass are subject to the very same SABS standards and tests. Alternative glass merely come at a much better rate than that of the branded alternative. Alternative glass is accepted as a preferred replacement within the insurance industry, as there is no difference in the quality of the glass.  There are instances in which we will consider installing branded glass, but there must be clear merit in this decision.  Mostly this will be if the warranty of your vehicle will be effected.  If your vehicle is under warranty King Price will require a letter from the manufacturer that confirms that the installation of a non-branded Glass will void your warranty. The service provider will be in contact to arrange an appointment with you to discuss your concerns and inspect the fitment.
