Just Property Midrand (Deposit Issue)

I have been a tenant of Just Property since 1st September 2016 and this year I decided I no longer want to renew my lease. I was then advised that within 5 to 7 working days of evacuation of the unit I will receive my deposit refund. I have been calling their offices and emailing them to no avail.

I am now being charged for damages that were caused by the previous tenant. The unit was never re-vamped upon me moving in. I am told by Just Property Midrand that the landlord refuses to give me what is due to me after they deducted funds for the damages they claim I caused. I did advise them that I will not have issues with paying

I need assistance in understanding how the landlord collected a deposit from the new tenants and is holding my funds. She never maintained that unit from the time I lived there. Today is the 18th of the next month and they still want to find extra faults in the unit so they hold back my deposit.

Nonhle the agent keeps giving me excuses about the new tenants not allowing her to evaluate the place and there are disputes in place. I was never informed of all this up until now.

I want people to know this is how Just Property operates and they need to be very careful especially when moving in please ensure that the evaluation sheet is completed and both signatures are on the dotted line.

I am seeking further assistance from my attorney regarding this matter because I have proof that they want to charge me for things I did not damage.

Regards Sabina Kinloch
