JUST PROPERTY BURGUNDY ESTATE CAPE TOWN

i would give ZERO stars of that was an option. Update 19July: With no further progress on resolving our maintenance issues we recommended termination of the lease with the notice period (2 months) so we could all move on. This was followed by threats of legal action for the balance of the contract. No apologies, no understanding/compassion or saying "we are so sorry this has been your experience, how can we make this better", no acknowledgment of their fault in the situation which of course is zero accountability. Basically a toxic relationship with a narcissist that doesn't see any fault with their behaviour but will go to any means to ensure their needs are met. Honestly disgusted. Original review 14 July: Worst estate agent ever – do not do business with them. Despite paying the full deposit (1.5 month’s rent equivalent), rent and all costs almost a month prior to our intended occupation date for a 2-bed 2 bath in a luxury lifestyle estate (without being able to view our actual unit, but basing our decision on what we know of the Balwin estates), we were not given access to the unit until the 3rd day of our lease. We traveled from Joburg with the transport of furniture, with 1 occupant having to vacate an Airbnb on the 1st of June but not being able to move into the unit as planned. They blamed the previous tenant. He was allowed to move at his own pace for 3 additional days. Once in the unit, we realized only the main bedroom had a curtain rail. It took them a month to finally install these in the kitchen, lounge and 2nd bedroom claiming they had no feedback from the “investor”. We also realized the unit did not in fact include the washing machine as was advertised (and standard with all Balwin properties) and confirmed by their agent several times thus causing us to sell ours before moving down from Joburg. We have been here now 6 weeks and still no washing machine. Added to this there are several maintenance issues that have not been attended to, such as a completely broken toilet seat (a safety hazard in fact) and no hanging rails in the wardrobe (so basically living like squatters unable to even pack clothing away). They blame the previous tenant. Regardless of who is at fault, the maintenance should be completed and where they recover the money from should not affect the new tenant. Their service is poor, completely unprofessional and with zero regard of their customers – tenants! We have nagged from the beginning and rarely receive feedback, and seeing the reviews, when we do move out we will have further issues with our deposit refund. Due to their breach of contract right in the beginning we have even suggested to cancel the lease so we can find a property that is meeting the basic standards (never mind the luxury that we were promised but clearly are not receiving). Our next step is to lodge a complaint with the Rental Housing Tribunal for failure to do maintenance, but our first choice it to move out and be done with this agency altogether.
