Feeling of being de*****ed

<p>So we are offered to view a property by Pieter Van Den Berg in Burgundy Estates. At face value, all looks okay except a falling cupboard door and a filthy shower. This is brought to the attention of Pieter Van Den Berg prior to us signing the lease and paying all amounts due, he responds by stating that the maintenance issues would be resolved prior to us taking occupation. In good faith all payments are made. R 21 150.00 later, we do the final inspection and upon seeing the property without furniture, we notice cracks and worse yet (The cupboard has been temporarily repaired but the inside still has damages that would likely damage linen and clothing). We are now told the landlord will not fix nor paint the filthy walls. (LOL!! She brought a dry filthy towel to wipe the walls in the main bedroom, so she knew the place was filthy). Nonetheless, we cancel as the landlord clearly states that our requests will not be honoured, Mr. Van Den Berg basically tells us we don’t have the right to cancel. Meantime, we paid rent for the month, it is the 13th of the month and he has not even called to offer us the keys to the property since in his mind the contract is valid. We are reporting them to the EAAB, the Rental Tribunal and wherever else we can go. We want our money back Pieter. </p>
