Exploiting renters

After moving out of a flat I rented for 2 years with no maintenance and inspections done from owner or leasing company (Just letting) I receive a mail saying I own them money for damages of R8995. I must pay a balance of R745.13 after subtracting my deposit or I will be blacklisted. <br> So after responding to this mail that I will not pay due to renovations done that is not my responsibility to fix nor was needed to be fixed. I immediately realised that they trying to exploit me for upgrades and renovations to benefit themselves. They responded by saying I received a mail a month ago that state a list of problems and I had 48 hr to object to this founding of exit inspection. How can I object if I do not see this mail. Because I did not respond they say I accept this founding's. A lack of response cannot be a confirmation or acceptance of anything.<br> Because I am a private renter and alone they trying to exploit me to pay for upgrades and renovations of property that does not belong to me. I will not be exploited like this. <br>
