Refusing to serve customers
Why do I need an account with you guys? When I try to buy a cellphone or tablet I am routinely forced to RICA that cellphone or tablet, when the RICA act clearly requires the registration of Sim cards, and not the devices. When I try to refuse a RICA they refuse to let me buy any device as they claim the RICA act requires them to activate the cellphone or tablet before letting the customer buy it. The way I see it they are more concerned about the commissions they get for every branded cellphone or tablet they sell, and will literally refuse to sell it to you if you refuse to RICA an unwanted sim, in favor of your own sim. The newly RICA'd sim is routinely thrown away by the customers.
Another point of complaint is JET refusing to sell airtime to me simply because I tried to use an account. Something that didn't stop me from doing that before. Now they are actively refusing to let me buy airtime, and will not sell a cellphone or tablet to me because I refuse to RICA a sim card.
Their is nothing stopping me from buying that same tablet or cellphone from online retailers that I trust a lot more, that is not branded, does not come with a sim, and it is delivered to my door step. If Jet feels they can refuse to sell me what I need I will pay the extra, and have the ONLINE retailers serve my needs. In which case the Jet account is a waste to keep active, and does nothing but leech of me with fees.

Kindly note that the RICA law requires the person who has purchased a SIM card (Contract and Prepaid customers – loose Sims and Sims bundles with handsets) to register such SIM card by providing their personal information and cellphone numbers.
RICA aims to help law-enforcement agencies to track ********* who use cellphones for ******* activities, as the cellphone will be linked to the person and his/her address.
Furthermore we don't sell airtime /data over the counter you need to register for OTA with our service provider RMCS in order for you to purchase airtime that is billed to your account at the end of that month .

21 May 2019, 00:36The rica act does indeed apply to sim cards, that I have no quarral with. My fight is with JET refusing to sell a cellphone unless I RICA a sim first. The Cellphone can work fine with a sim card that has allready been ricad in the past, and can easily work just as well without a simcard until one can be inserted. I am getting fed up with the excuses that the sim has to be ricad first, and they always say the cellphone has to be ricad, or activated first. It is absolutely bull****. I can buy a cellphone online, with no operator logos. But that does not help me when the store that has the phone can let me buy it the instant i need it. Instead I am forced to wait for a cellphone I need to buy urgently.
Second. I have in the past bought airtime on an account before. With no problems whatsoever
