JET Fourways JHB, pathetic service

I am vacationing in JHB and left my phone in Durban.

I was advised by a consultant to purchase a prepaid SIM card and contact the customer care centre to port my number to my new SIM card.

Despite it being clearly depicted on the SIM starter pack that a RICA is not required for my scenario, the manager of JET Fourways mall insisted that it be required as this a rule set by the headoffice and is a Law in SA.

I gave him my drivers license as a substitute for my ID and offered to show him digital proof of residence from my email statements, however he was adamant on me providing an ID and a physical proof of residence.

Who carries these documents on a vacation?, No effort was being made in order to satisfy me as a customer. Instead he insisted that I visit the service provider's store within the mall.

That was my first obvious choice however they did not have stock of the micro SIM and suggested that I visit JET.

The manager was rude and asked rhetorical questions and refused to admit that he was wrong when he stated that no where is it written the at a RICA was not required.

When I pointed out where it was stated he proceeded to ignore me and play dumb by blaming JET protocols.

No effort was made to accommodate a tourist who was willing to provide digital copies of all required documents, instead he wanted something tangible like a letter and he refused to admit that the starter pack could be sold without a RICA being done, despite it being written clearly on the back.

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
