Gift card saga

I was bought a gift card which clearly has their terms and conditions and I am well within my rights in terms of their terms and conditions to use my card and they are telling me I cannot use it because Jet was bought by TFG from Edcon, how is that my problem because when I pay my account they do not say they don't want the money because that debt that with Edcon and not them?
