Do guarantee on phones apply at Edcon?

About a month ago I bought a Hurricane phone from Jet Store in Phumulani Mall. I was told that the device had 12 month guarantee and should it gives me a problem I should return it to the shop. On the 21st of December 2018 the device started to stuck when I switched it on, it would just show the initial start up screen and then that's it until it drains the battery. I went to the store to have it changed but I was told to come back on the second week of January for it to be booked for repair. What frustrates me is that I had to spend festive season without a phone. Now the phone is booked for repair of which the store doesn't know when will I get it. So now it will soon be 2 month without a proper phone, while my R800 is gone. Come on Edcon it's really unfair to me.
