Being handed over an account in never opened

So in 2005 I recieved a phone call i think from Jet or Edgars asking me whether I had an account with them because there were people going around shopping on an account that is under my name. This was in Joburg by the way and I live in Durban and was in Durban at the time.

I told them that I do not have an account nor do I have a desire to open one. So those people were apprehended or so I was made to believe but since an account was already open the wanted me to make payment while this was being resolved which I refused because this was not my fault. I was asked to provide an affidavit and my ID copy to state that I never opened an account which I did but this went on for several months and I really fought hard because Edcon was threatening to blacklist me if I dont make payment for an account that I never opened in the first place.

Ultimately after a lot of back and forth of which I was the one pursuing the matter the matter was resolved and I was told I am clear.

Fast forward to Jan 2021 I recieve a call from VVM attorneys telling me that I have been handed over for a Jet account, again I told them I have no such account. Now they want me to provide an affidavit and ID copy. I refused naturally.

I called Edcon and I was told there is an old account that appears that was opened in 2005 and the amount that reflects there is the same amount as given to me by VVM Attorneys of R5931.30.

So that proved to me that this is the very same account that was **********ly opened in 2005 cropping up over 15 yrs later.

When I asked VVM when was this account open they tell me that they dontbhave that information and that I must provide an affidavit and ID copy.

This is extremely frustrating and i no words to describe my anger on this.

Even if this was a legitimate account that I opened in 2005, surely in 2021 that account has been written off after 15yrs of none payment and as I said I last dealt with this matter in 2005, for 15 yrs there has been no correspondence with me whatsoever and all of a sudden they call.

There is something seriously wrong here.
