Avoid using Jawitz Pinelands, Cape Town

Avoid using Jawitz Pinelands, Cape Town.

Jawitz managed our property for several years, yet we have since discovered that annual property inspections were never carried out as contracted. As a result, significant issues went unnoticed and unaddressed, leaving us with substantial repair costs once the management agreement was terminated.

Throughout the duration of the contract, we received very little meaningful property management service despite paying management fees. The lack of inspections and un-proactive management has directly contributed to the property's deterioration and the expense we've had to cover.

Since ending our agreement due to ongoing poor service, Jawitz has continued to hold our tenant's deposit and has been unresponsive to our attempts to communicate and resolve the matter. Not once has Jawitz acknowledged any responsibility for their mismanagement of our property or the tenant they provided. This whole experience has cost us a lot of time and money.

We are extremely disappointed by our experience and the way this situation has been handled. As a result, we will be lodging a formal complaint with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

Based on our experience, we would strongly caution other property owners against using this branch.

Reviewer Update
Update since my last post. nothing has happened. we've had no meaningful communication from Jawitz, we have no idea if they are doing anything or what their views are on the state of the flat and no advice about anything. However they are still holding the deposit while we have had to fork out R30k for repairs. The next stage is legal proceedings.

Dear Rachel

We take all client feedback seriously and regret that your experience did not meet expectations.

While our records indicate that updates were provided as new information became available, we understand you feel the frequency and depth of this communication were insufficient. We acknowledge that the required property inspections were not conducted and take full responsibility for this operational oversight.

We have thoroughly reviewed the final account status of the deposit and met with the tenant.  Please note that there is an active dispute regarding the required property repairs by the tenant, which must be resolved before the final deposit allocation can be concluded. We will communicate with you directly as to the next steps in this dispute process. We take note of your intention to contact the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA). Should a formal inquiry be opened, we will cooperate fully and provide all necessary documentation directly to them.

Regards
