Purchase of an Isuzu engine

Having had a problem with my Isuzu bakkie engine, my long mechanic Mr Richard Rockell of CV Rocket Newcastle advised that I would be better off buying a reconditioned than repair the one on the vehicle. Thus I went looking an comparing prices. I came across in internet. Japan Auto of Boksburg Johannesburg offered an engine that they was NEW at a price of R 48000. The engine I collected and paid for on the 4th of January 2017. It was transported to Newcastle on the SAME VEHICLE it was to be mounted onto. At Newcastle I handed the vehicle and the engine to Mr Richard Rockell referred to above for mounting. It is at this point that he reported the engine was not an original Isuzu engine. He called it a JMC engine. Taking into account time and cost to return the engine we agreed to continue and put onto the vehicle. That is where the problem began. On my first trip after mounting the engine going to my then work station at Nongoma in KZN, we noticed some exhaust smoking. This we associated with the NEWNESS of the engine, I thought would go after covering some mileage. In the week that followed on the third day I noticed a rising temperature on the gauge. The vehicle was transported on a flat bed to Newcastle. Mr Rockell looked at it and changed the thermostat. I travelled to Durban having changed the working area. In the week that followed the temperature gauge again rose. This time I towed the vehicle to one Mr Wimpie. He thought of the thermostat. I highlighted the recent change in Newcastle, they had a closer look at the cause. It was discovered the thermostat failure was a result of blocking by rust. They flushed the engine and cleaned using a certain chemical and changed the thermostat. The vehicle drove for a while but all along smoking continued. One morning as I was going to Johannesburg for supplies, the vehicle stalled before I could leave Newcastle. Mr Rockell suspected the injector pump. Amajuba Diesel attended to it serviced the injector pump and cleaned the fuel system including the diesel tank as a matter of procedure to guarantee the job. The vehicle was restored to running order but SMOKING continued all along. I had a telephone conversation with Mr Markos of Japan Auto. On the 1st of September 2017 I saw this Markos of Japan Auto and they blamed the RADIATOR for the rust and overheating. NB - this vehicle was used to pick up the NEW engine on the 4th of January 2017 and had no overheating history before the NEW ENGINE came on. - the same radiator that it ran on is on the vehicle to date. - their guarantee on the so called NEW ENGINE is one month from the date of purchase. This is unfair to any buyer taking into account the outlay. Their in my opinion unfairly shifting the blame saying the radiator was rusty which is not the case analysing circumstances. The NEW ENGINE brought about the rust problem which was never there with the old engine. My suggestion of replacement on take back this one on a cost sharing bases fell on a deaf ear. Their JMC engine import which is apparently is sub-standard and their conditions and guarantee period amount to something close to theft, none disclosure at the point of sale not withstanding. The vehicle use I have been forced to suspend, making my situation even more worse. On the sales quote the item is specified as new Isuzu engine 2.8, no mention of 2.8 JMC engine. We are seeking a neutral ear and intervention in this matter. My sales quote number is 001973. Kind regards Richard Gichere
