Negligence, verbal abuse, and refusal to provide a functional product.
I visited Jan Voster Optometrist for an eye test and glasses, paying R1,180. As a 54-year-old with cataracts and poor vision, i trusted their expertise. Instead, I was given glasses I absolutely cannot see out of. When I returned to address the issue, the secretary admitted they made a mistake (omitting an 'x' from my prescription). Despite this admission of error, a staff member actually yelled at me, claiming he 'told me I wouldn't be able to see out of them' which is a ridiculous statement to make to a paying patient seeking vision correction. I have no interest in further corrections from a practice that treats it's patients with such disrespect and incompetence. I am demanding a full refund of R1,180 so that I can take my business to a professional who can actually provide the vision care I paid for. This experience was traumatic and unprofessional.

I have been a patient of this doctor for over four years, but my recent experience has left me extremely disappointed and disrespected. During a recent visit, my eyeglass frame was broken while in their care. When I brought this to their attention, they refused to take any responsibility or offer a replacement. What made matters worse was the doctor's attitude. He looked me directly in the eye and told me that the only solution was for me to purchase a new frame. When I expressed that I was not willing to accept that as the only option, he abruptly ended the conversation and turned away, making it clear he had no further interest in addressing my concerns. This level of disregard, especially after being a loyal patient for years, is unacceptable. I expected professionalism and accountability—not dismissal and disrespect. I can no longer recommend this practice based on how I was treated.
