Worst 4x4xfar

Over a month ago I started my Def 90 Puma and heard a loud bang followed by smoke then repeated thump from engine. My immediate thought was a piston had blown and now the engine is grinding bits of metal. Called LR N1 to assist with diagnosis and had the truck towed in. They were great with constant daily feedback and although I insisted the engine was toast, they said they found the problem and replaced all injectors and pump and it was good as new and to come collect. Paid them R40k and on my way in they called and said oops the engine is gone, sump had metal in it. They offered to do further diagnostics, at a cost of course. Asked them if I should not just replace the engine, as it would cost me thousands with them tinkering with every part. They said they would get me costing to replace entire engine with a recon one. Weeks passed and I tried calling and emailing, nothing. Finally after a few threats got costing, which amounted to R170k for recon engine. Said no thank you, actual recon only costs R40k and sent tow truck to collect. Tow truck arrived at my house with someone else's Defender on it. N1 City said oops, don't know what happened to your Def? Not impressed at all
