Tired of bad service

I have had enough of Land Rover and am tired of how Land Rover treats client.

I have only received unacceptable service since the purchase of my Land Rover Evoque in 2018. Land Rover has such a good reputation and I expected a completely different experience.

I purchased my Range Rover Evoque from Land Rover Sandton, I am based in Cape Town. When I enquired about the car the Sales Consultant informed me that they have a lot of Cape Town buyers and will deliver the car to Land Rover N1 City, where we will meet and sign all the documents. • I took delivery of the Evoque on the 9 Feb 2018 • I took out an extended warrantee, service and top plan and was assured that it covers the same as the factory warrantee so i don’t understand why now I don’t qualify for the courtesy car. • Land Rover took possession of my Toyota Fortuner on the 9 Feb 2018. (trade-in) • While taking ownership I pointed out extensive damage to the Evoque o Badly chipped and peeling paint on the front bumper and right side panel o Badly chipped and dented left side of the car o Driver side mirror was badly damaged o All 4 rims was badly damaged o Windscreen was badly cracked o Car was never valet and smelled like smoke. • Notes was made on the delivery note and I was assured it will all be resolved, according to the Land Rover Sandton Sales Consultant the only explanation was that the car was damaged during the trip on the truck down to Cape Town (which I didn’t believe). After discussions with the dealer principal and company that transported the car to Cape Town it was determined that the car was never refurbished before sending the car down to Cape Town it was still damaged from the previous owner. • The sales consultant forgot to arrange the temp licence and I had to wait almost 2 hours for him to go to the licence department to arrange it. • When I eventually left Land Rover N1 City, the petrol light went as I left the premises, I didn’t expect a tank of petrol, a quarter tank would have been fine as I handed my Toyota in with more than half a tank of petrol. • I only received my licence and registration on the 8 March after complaining that the temp licence would expire on the 9 March 2018. • I agreed to take the car to variation dealerships in Cape Town to obtain quotes for the repairs and quotes were sent to Land Rover Sandton from the 14 Feb 2018 which was rejected but eventually approved. • Quotes for the body repairs was only approved in April and went in for repairs from 9 April – 13 April 2018. • During that period I had to rent a car but Land Rover eventually agreed to refund me. • Wind screen was only replaced on the 18th April 2018 • The 4 Rims was only repaired on the 31 Oct 2018. • My Toyota was handed over to Land Rover on the 9 Feb 2018 as a trade-in. o I kept getting emails from Toyota finance during the course of Feb regarding requested settlement figures, when I asked if my Toyota was settled I was assured it was, so you can understand my shock when my Toyota instalment went off on the 1 March 2018. My Toyota was eventually settle on the 12 March. o My Toyota was then sold to a friend of the sales consultant, the car was not immediately transferred into the new buyers name I was only made aware of this when I received bills from e-toll and I live in cape town , only once I took this matter up with Land Rover was the Toyota transferred into the new buyers name. • During my 2*** services o I use my car for work and every service my car went to, I pointed out that the navigation wasn’t working, updates where done, but the next day the navigation was faulty again. o Eventually in 2019 my car was booked in again for navigation only, the car was kept over night and it seems to work 90% of the time. • 17 Dec- I was driving and my car lost power, I was towed to Land Rover N1 City as that was the closest to where my car was collected (I normally service my car at Land Rover Tokai). I was then told the next day that the engine needs to be replaced and because it is December I should get the car back mid to end Jan 2020. • It is now the 13 Jan 2020, every time I wanted an updated I had to phone and ask for an update, I was informed last week that the warranty claim hasn’t been approved yet. • I also request the use of the courtesy car as I need my car for work on a daily basis, hence the reason buying a reliable Land Rover and I was told sorry no stock available. I still pay monthly instalment and insurance for a vehicle I cannot use and I am not willing to rent a vehicle at my expense. This is not a cheap car and don’t expect to replace the engine with only just over 80 000km on the car. I have 2 kids that must get to school and transport is a very important part of my job. • I am very unhappy with my entire experience with Land Rover since buying this car.
