LAND ROVER EVOQUE - ESTIMATE FOR UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT ENGINE

Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape (as confirmed by Jaguar Land Rover South Africa) quoted me R201 000 for a new engine for my 2012 Land Rover Evoque which had 117000 kms on the odometer. I sought a second opinion from an auto repairs specialist in Port Elizabeth who properly identified and repaired the vehicle at a cost of some R25 000. My limited layman’s understanding of the mechanical issue involved is that the failure of one cylinder (which was apparently clear from a whats app video of a compression test performed by Land Rover and subsequently expressly acknowledged in writing) did not automatically necessitate the replacement of the entire engine, as (mis) represented to me by Land Rover. It is extremely concerning that I could not rely on the advice and recommendation of the "dealer experts".
