Land Rover Care Plan Agreement

I own a 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport VIN SALCA2AD1GH623445. The vehicle came with a 5 year service plan. The vehicle was purchased on the 22nd February 2017 from Land Rover Cape Town. I contacted Land Rover Cape Town service department to book my vehicle in for it's final service under the service plan. The service department informed me that my service plan expired in August 2021, six months short of the 5 years. I contacted Jaguar Land Rover Customer Relationship Centre but to date have not had any success in dealing with this. I lodged a case with The Motor Ombudsman and their response was that Land Rover Cape Town has not contravened the terms and conditions of the plans provided with your vehicle. It should be noted that some manufacturer’s might start a vehicle’s accompanying plan once the vehicle is delivery to their premises (which was August 2016) for internal policy reasons and buyers have access to the said information upon purchase. My vehicle's care plan agreement states that the agreement shall commence on the date of first retail sale of the vehicle or on the date of the registration of the vehicle, which ever one comes first. I find it unacceptable that Land Rover take this as meaning when the vehicle arrives at their showroom and feel that potential vehicle buyers should be made aware that their service plan is not five years from purchase date.
