Discovery sport

I purchased a brand new Landrover Discovery sport in August of 2022 and I’m utterly disappointed in this vehicle. There have been numerous faults experienced with this vehicle since I took delivery of it. the main fault is for the media and infotainment system on the vehicle although it is not only that.

The vehicle has been back and forth to the dealership in Umhlanga, for these recurring faults:

Media system does not operate properly – screen freezes intermittently. Cannot select any function on the screen. Reverse camera does not appear on screen inside vehicle Left side mirror does not unfold when vehicle is unlocked Brakes had to be replaced within a year of driving the vehicle Control arm on vehicle had to be replaced Issue with the steering rack Warning signals inside vehicle barely audible. i.e – seatbelt warning, turn signals, PDC warning, media

For all these faults, nobody can give me any solid information as to why a brand new vehicle is doing this. I have even gone as far as leaving the vehicle with the service manager for an entire week and he said that none of the faults I have reported occurred whilst the vehicle was in his possession although I have video evidence of this.

The most recent fault was for the control arm and steering rack issue which the technicians only noticed after the control arm was replaced. I met with the service manager and Samantha yesterday and they could not give me a reason as to why this is. I was told that I had to return the courtesy vehicle and continue using my own vehicle with the faults still not repaired as it was “safe” to drive with that issue. When I questioned them, asking if it were their own vehicle would they accept that and still continue to use the vehicle, Samantha answered that she would and then started explaining policy of JLR SA. I found this rather amusing as she would actually risk her own life and the life of her family based on some technicians report to say the car was safe to drive.

Why am I not surprised that I have not received any feedback from your establishment. I sent out e-mails to the service manager and dealer principal at the Umhlanga dealership and neither of them has even rep****. When I last spoke to the service manager, he said that he would reply to me shortly as it was month end and didn't get a chance to read the e-mail I sent although I got a read receipt before I called him. At first it was the control arm on the vehicle that was an issue, so I explained that the noise I had initially reported was still evident from the suspension and so now that noise will be resolved when the steering rack is replaced. So, I think that you guys do not know what the actual fault is and this is now a process of elimination repair.
