Insurance company IUA not honouring their policies.
IUA administers insurance cover for people who are buying cars on credit. I bought a second had car in November 2018 R70000.00 _ so far so good. I was advised by the dealer in Port Elizabeth that I need to take out insurance with this company for death, disability, shortfall and retrenchment. As I am from a family from a family who has worked in the insurance business, I believe in taking out the insurance offered. Fast forward to January 2018, I was diagnosed with a neurological syndrome which is called Post Polio Syndrome. I had been a victim of the Polio virus at the age of 18 months old. A baby. I am now 62 nearly 63 and I have lived with my disability successfully. Married for 28 years until my husband passed away from a long illness and I was basically the income earner of the family. Any way I am now on 100% disability leave as from the 1st January 2018. This neurological syndrome weakens the existing muscles that have be spared by the polio virus originally and obviously they have now been overworked as the working muscles take over the work of many of the non working muscles. I am a happy down to earth person who has taken a bit of a knock at this news and currently also suffer from depression as well which I am handling. It is what it is. Many people are worse off than me. Back to IUA insurance which administers for Hollard Insurance. I have never had such a struggle to get an answer out of these people. They have been deducting 2 x policies from my account and have only given me the details of the one account I have repeatedly sent email after email, hoping to get the disability cover for the car paid back to me. In desperation I contacted MFC who I had the credit agreement with and I was paid out with in 2 months. So well done MFC very helpful and personally called me to check up that I was getting the help I needed. Although people can clearly see I am disabled ( I am in a wheelchair) not one of the insurance companies have ever asked for a Medical examination. So as at May / June when the balance was settled by MFC the amount owing was R39912 all I want to know from IUA insurance with whom I have 2 policies whether I have disability cover and they responded by sending me the details of the one policy which shows the death benefit and the shortfall (I presume for when I die) as my sister is the beneficiary of this payout. I am trying to find out if I have disability cover so that I can claim the R39912 back from this insurance which I was sure included a disability cover. When speaking to the very kind and caring man from MFC, he assured me that any other insurance policies I have for this motor vehicle would be for me to use for medical care I will need that and that MFC had their own cover. Now my question is if MFC had cover for the car for death, disability etc, etc. Why did the dealer suggest that I take out additional insurance for which he gets a %. And IUA insurance are they committing *****. Why all the insurance??? I have written to Complaints@iua,co,za at least ten times and it is now almost November and I have not had an answer that satisfies me in the least. This is terrible. I have been on the Facebbook page and the overall rating is 1.5 % I think this is a problem and I have seen similar complaints on line. I hope this review can help- me or any other unsuspecting person. Thank You.
