Hospital cash back plan designed just to make money for the administrator

Having had my Edgars account for many years, this may now be the final straw. Edgars financial services has been taking policy fees each month for the last 6 years. Edgars has changed their claims administration company to IUA without advising the client. IUA claims that they were told what the requirements for claims are by Hollard. When you go to the Hollard site - the requirements for claims are no where near the requirements prescribed by IUA. A call to edgars and they say thats its only a form and an ID. When talking to IUA, the mandatory requirements as per their email to me is

* Six Months Medical Aid Records * Certified Copy of Insured's ID * Certified Copy of Patient's ID * Certified Copy of Policy Owner's ID * Hospital Statement of Account * Certified Copy of ID Document * Diagnostic Report * Personal Medical Attendants Report (D2) * Hospital File Records * Certified Claimant ID

Horrified at these undisclosed requirements, I called their offices who first said that I did not have a policy and directed me to Edgars. On a second call, I was told that the matter would be escalated to a manager. The response after the escalation was worse. I was told that:

* the requirements were mandatory * The costs of obtaining the documents were Bourne by the client * The hospital making copies of your hospital file should be free and that they have even had hospitals courier documents to them.

Having had this policy for 6 years, I am trying to understand how my hospital history or medical aid history has any bearing on a plan which pays me when I am in hospital - which I was. It this is a means of reducing costs for Edgars or Hollard - by simply looking to create costly barriers to deter the client from claiming? What about POPI? There is NO disclaimer about how they will use such information.

I have immediately cancelled this policy, will cancel my Edgars club membership and close my account very soon. Congratulations IUA. YOu have limited a claim. is sure to reduce the claims made by clients as IUA is sure to reduce the number of clients that hold such polices.
