Unprofessional, Insincere, Uncaring, Coniving and Scheming

This is an institution that doesn't mark student assignments even if submitted and fails a student for the module so that they can get the student to repeat the module and earn money from other people's "failure". The more students they fail the more money they make. Once you are failed for a module you are forced to repeat the module with them (although Dept of Higher Learning allows you to register that "failed" module with a different institution). They're running their own show and have shown disregard for authority.

Good day Mr W Morake

As per the email correspondence between our student administration office and the student which took place on the 25/06/2020, it was indicated to the student that the exam had been submitted after the assignment deadline which was 09/06/2020 @ 23.59 PM. This information was communicated to all students who were fully aware of these institutional rules. These rules are app**** by all institutions in South Africa, these rules are also explained the in the student handbook which all students are provided with.

Should you wish to take this matter further offline kindly make use of my email address ***.

I hope you find the above in order.

Kind Regards

That doesn't change the fact that the institution is a rip-off and takes people's hard-earned money to advance their own course. Other institutions don't charge students for cancelation of a module or not being able to write an exam because they understand the times in which we live. My position stands - IQA is ******** and arrogant.
Don't try to justify that.

You emailed student assignments late (and nobody's said "were not gonna write because we received the assignment late) and some students were even requesting assignments from their fellow students on whatsapp and this is not the only student who was failed for "not" submitting an Assignment. I guess it's what happens when you are running your own show - you disregard the people who made you what you are and ignore the fact that poor customer service can break you. Just uploading and marking an assignment is a problem for someone who has become complacent and lazy to do their job. This is why institutions fail - poor customer service that is justified by management, lack of accountability, complacency and laziness.

 Good day Mr W Morake
With regards to your above statement's you are more than welcome to your own opinion however when stating that other institutions do not administer these kinds of fees or have the flexible deadlines with regards to submission of assignments and exams do not abide by the rules of the Department of Higher Education and Training which needs no justification. The availability of the assignments was done over  had numerous channels which students had access to, we had emailed the assignments to all students followed by an SMS stating that the email had been sent should they not have received the assignment, we also made them available on the iCan student with numerous notifications to student on how to access the assignments and lastly we had made these assignments available via the various whatsapp groups.  The student is liable to follow up with their tutors should they not have received their assignments. I fail to see where poor customer service or laziness is or was provided as the whole complaint is regarding the student where she submitted her final assignment after the deadline and is wanting an exception to be granted. How would the credibility of the institution look if we let this happen to every student who could not obey these rules?  In order to assist during these difficult times, we are happy to waive the repeat fee module and carry the assignment 1 and 2 results across to this semester, but the student will have to complete the summative assignment when required.  We still stand by the institutions rules, and should the student in future fail to abide by the said rules, we will uphold all sanctions associated with that particular rule.  We hope that you find this proposal acceptable and look forward to hearing from you.

I have proof of the requests for the Assignment, the complaints from other students and the date in which the Assignment was posted on Ican and mailed to the students - there was a delay and you are disputing that.
Exception? No. Again you are failing to acknowledge that you are serving people from poor backgrounds with poor internet connection and at times no data to view or submit the assignment which you refer to. We are living in an age of digitization but the people who don't have the means to go digital shouldn't be excluded. Education should be inclusive.
An exam is written at a venue, the answer-sheets are couriered and marked at your head office. An option to submit hard copy assignments should then be made available to impoverished students as other institutions are doing.

I find waiving the fee and carrying the results for assignment 1 and 2 acceptable and reasonable. The student will complete the summative assignment when required.
