Poor service
I initially joined Investec because I had an existing bond and wanted to take advantage of their competitive home loan interest rates. At one point, I also considered moving my vehicle finance and consolidating all my banking with Investec. However, they declined to finance my car, stating that my 2016 model was too old and not financially viable, which I understood. Based on that experience, I chose not to move the rest of my banking to Investec. In 2024, I received a home loan offer from Standard Bank with a significantly lower interest rate than what Investec had provided. My overall experience with Investec had been disappointing from the beginning. I often felt neglected, and it seemed as though my banker, Thulani Banisi, occasionally forgot about my existence—he would sometimes not respond to my messages. The only reason I remained with Investec was for the home loan. After accepting the offer from Standard Bank, I informed Thulani Banisi. It was only then that he acknowledged that both he and my previous banker, Collen van Staden, had failed to provide adequate service. From this experience, I came to understand that while Investec may accept clients who meet the minimum income requirements, they seem to prioritize customers with large transaction volumes. Simply paying monthly banking fees did not appear to be enough to warrant proper service.
