Avoid Banking

Investec Bank Plc outsources administration to South Africa and not one support staff is accredited with the FCA in United Kingdom. Personal information is shared across Chinese walls (regulatory requirements) and discuss your business with 3rd parties not permitted under GDPR, their LSE listing and banking licensing. They also have no branch for retail transactions despite claims of GBP protection - untested claim by them.

Bad service from Sharonn Bland

I have trying to get hold of Sharonn Bland at Investec regarding a clients profile I have emailed her and I have called but to no avail. This is really disgusting service because for a week I have been calling emailing but every time I am transferred to her but she never responds. Nokuthula Mkhize is really trying to help me but there is just so much she can do I really need to speak to Sharonn Bland

Absolutely *********** and shocking service levels

I called in August to enquire the procedure on how I could obtain an acceptable interest return on a substantial fixed deposit. A kind consultant suggested I apply as a client and took down my details so that a new client consultant could call me to proceed. Today, the 18th September this call was received..more than three weeks later. Seems Investec is not interested in new business...an absolute disgrace in service levels and your display of arrogance.Glad you showed your true service commitment at this stage before I signed up.

Investec

Dear Complaints Resolution Team, I trust you are well. I wish to lodge a formal complaint regarding the information that Investec is currently reporting to the credit bureaus in respect of my account. It has come to my attention that the information being reported reflects the **total outstanding balance** and the **monthly instalment** as being the same amount. This is factually incorrect and does not accurately reflect the current status of my account. Since the judgment, I have consistently made monthly payments towards the debt in good faith. I am currently paying **R5,000 per month**, and these payments have been received and allocated by Investec. I respectfully request that Investec investigate this matter and ensure that the information reported to the credit bureaus is complete, accurate and up to date. Accurate credit reporting is essential, particularly as my credit profile has significant implications for my professional standing and financial affairs. Kindly provide me with: 1. A detailed statement reflecting the current outstanding balance on the judgment debt. 2. Confirmation of the monthly instalment amount that Investec is reporting to the credit bureaus. 3. Confirmation that the credit bureaus will be updated to accurately reflect my repayment history and the actual monthly payment of **R5,000**. 4. An explanation as to why the total balance and monthly instalment are currently reflected as the same amount, if this is indeed the information being reported. I trust that, in accordance with the obligations to report consumer credit information accurately, this matter will be investigated and corrected without delay should any inaccuracies be identified. I look forward to your response. Y

Great for salaried professionals, not for entrepreneurs

If you're a doctor, accountant or other salaried professional, Investec is probably a great fit. If you're an entrepreneur, I'd look elsewhere. I started my business while still in school and have built it over more than a decade. I'm younger than most of the business owners Investec deals with, but my company is established, profitable and growing. None of that seemed to count. Investec says it wants business clients, but in practice it doesn't seem to understand how business owners actually operate. Most of us deliberately draw only what we need from our companies and reinvest the rest, so our personal income on paper doesn't reflect the real strength of the business. Judging owners the same way you'd judge a salaried employee misses the full picture. The whole experience left me feeling like I wasn't the "right kind" of client for them, and after being treated that way, I can't see myself moving to Investec in future. Investec, competition for business owners is only going to grow, and the banks that understand entrepreneurs are the ones that will win them.

Bond cancellation figures taking far too long

I’m usually an Investec super fan but unduly delaying transfer of a property is ridiculous and falls far short of the service I expect from Investec. Both the seller and I (the purchaser) are Investec clients. Bond cancellation figures were requested on 28 August 2026. It’s now 14 September 2026 (more than 2 weeks later!) and no such figures have been provided. Another gentleman complained about this very same issue a year ago. One would think the process would be reviewed, the relevant personnel or department investigated and the process overhauled. You are unnecessarily prejudicing individuals involved in transactions so significant to them. I am gravely disappointed. This is unacceptable service.

Worst banking app!

This has to be the worst banking app every. Every 2 to 3 months there is an issue. Despite asking my banker to escalate the issues there are still problems. 3 months ago the international payments just didn't work. Then there was an issue with online purchases. Not the international transfers are not available on the app. When I moved my portfolio to investec I really thought because of the premium rates and selective clients they have, i would have these types of issues. It it getting so bad that I am seriously considering moving back to Nedbank where I had NONE of these issues.
