Unacceptable business conduct

I visited the Intercare Gonubie branch earlier today at 13h40 to take my daughter for medical check at an available GP for a throat infection.

Since I did not make an appointment to see any GP prior to my arrival I was told by the receptionist that Dr Du Plooy was available to assist us, however that he would only do so as a “emergency call” and hence higher medical tariffs would apply to our visit that would not be covered by our medical aid.

Why would an “emergency call” be applicable with higher medical rates that need to be paid in cash when I visit their branch during their normal business hours?

The business hours indicated on their website for their Gonubie branch is from 08h00 to 14h00.

This attitude of requesting me to pay higher rates during their normal business hours is totally unacceptable and I have decided not to entertain it in any way.

I went to Medicross medical center instead and my daughter got the medical help she needed from a helpful and friendly medical practitioner.

My husband and I have taken the decision not to support Intercare in the future and nor will we take our children to your institution.
